Stage Introduction:

Doc Mehl's last name is pronounced with a silent "H" - Like Mel. Mel Tillis. Mel Torme. Mel Gibson.  You get the drift.  And, for stage introductions, Doc pretty much prefers that you just ignore the first name that appears on his birth certificate.  Oh, there's nothing wrong with the name "Al."  But folks mostly just call him "Doc."  If you find yourself standing at the microphone introducing Doc, just skip the "Al" part and call him "Doc Mehl."  And you might just mention this website, "DocMehl.com;" that will give folks a chance after the show to visit the website and learn more about Doc.

Doc Mehl's Biography

Transplanted from Colorado to Diamond Valley, Alberta, Doc Mehl weaves the history and the mystery of the West into his original “west-clectic” poetry and music. Doc Mehl’s spoken-word recording “The Great Divide” was named “Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year” by both the International Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists, and his book of original cowboy poetry titled “Good Medicine” was the IWMA “Cowboy Poetry Book of the Year.” In the words of Rick Huff (as published in The Western Way magazine), “There’s a unique mind at work here that may be one of a kind in the Western Music arena.”  And songwriter Jon Chandler comments, “Listening to Doc is like having Lyle Lovett in one ear, and Tommy Smothers in the other!"  Find Doc on the web at DocMehl.com.
